Worldwide there is a mismatch between the number of organ donors and the number of patients on transplant waiting lists. Historically patients with non-survivable burns were unable to become organ donors. With the development of donation after circulatory determination of death and the use of extended criteria donors, some patients who die from burn injuries are able to become organ donors and save the lives of others.
This presentation will include a case report, the data on this cohort and we shall discuss how donors are identified and the pathway for donation to occur.
